Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Unit Clerk / Nursing Assistant organizes and facilitates administrative and logistic tasks related to clinical operations of the unit. This role also provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, utilizing the nursing process as needed.

Responsibilities and Scope

• Coordinate patient movement within the hospital, to other institutions, or during discharge. Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
• Respond to patient and family inquiries via phone or other mediums, escalate issues as needed, and schedule discharges and follow-up consultations.
• Serve as the primary representative for the unit to staff and visitors. Maintain accountability systems such as environment checklists.
• Assist physicians and healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and procurement of supplies during emergencies.
• Observe, document, and report patient information and significant changes in condition promptly.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation, according to the care plan.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience and education.
• Experience with Microsoft Office or similar applications, and online tools.
• Nursing assistant certification (e.g., Nurse Aide I registration by NCBON or equivalent).
• Current BLS certification.

Preferred

• Experience with EMR systems like EPIC.
• Experience working in a hospital setting.
