STGi is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide services to our Georgia Ware Veterans Home. Hiring for all shifts - Full Time, Part Time, and PRN.
JOB SUMMARY:
The general duty of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to provide residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan and as directed by supervisors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor as soon as practical.
- Weigh residents in accordance with his/her plan of care.
- Report any significant weight loss or weight gain to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor in accordance with facility policies.
- Measure residents’ temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake, output, and food consumption; document in the official medical record.
- Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water on each shift and within easy reach of the resident.
- Prepare residents for meals (e.g., take to bathroom, wash hands, comb hair, raise bed, position tables, place bibs, take to/from dining room).
- Record the resident’s food/fluid intake; report changes in eating habits.
- Assist residents according to their needs, ranging from minimal assistance to total dependent care on activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Contribute to the development and implementation of interventions based on resident needs/goals and recognized standards of practice.
- Monitor and evaluate the resident’s response to care plan interventions and treatments per facility policies.
- Care for residents with mental and psychosocial disorders, including those with trauma or PTSD, as per facility policies.
- Assist in preparing residents for exams, tests, and procedures; provide support or escort residents to appointments.
- Transport residents to/from appointments, activities, and social programs as necessary.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions (e.g., take to bathroom, offer bedpan/urinal, portable commode).
- Assist residents in preparing for activities and social programs (e.g., church services, parties, visitors).
- Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices.
- Assist residents with bathing functions (e.g., bed bath, tub or shower bath) as directed.
- Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care (e.g., brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene).
- Assist residents with dressing/undressing as necessary.
- Assist residents with personal grooming (e.g., combing, brushing, shampooing).
- Assist non-diabetic residents with nail care including clipping, trimming, and cleaning fingers and nails.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts.
- Assist with the application of non-sterile (moist and dry) warm/cold compresses.
- Assist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc.
- Support residents through meaningful activities matching their abilities, simplifying tasks for those with difficulty following complex directions based on assessments.
- Change bed linens in resident rooms.
- Check and report bowel movements and stool characteristics as instructed.
- Ensure personal care needs are met according to residents’ wishes through routine checks.
- Collect specimens (urine, sputum, stools) as instructed.
- Maintain intake and output records as instructed.
- Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent injuries.
- Attend change of shift reports.
- Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed in the care plan.
- Provide non-pharmacological pain interventions per care plan.
- Perform daily range of motion (ROM) exercises; record data as instructed.
- Provide eye and ear care (e.g., warm/cold compresses, instillation, cleaning aids) as instructed.
- Report injuries of unknown source, including skin tears.
- Greet residents, escort them to their rooms, and provide new resident orientation.
- Assist nurses with admission, transfer, and discharge functions.
- Introduce residents to roommates, other residents, and staff as appropriate.
- Inventory and mark residents’ personal possessions; update inventory lists as appropriate.
