Unit Bio:
The NICU/CCN in The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital is a 51-bed level III-IV unit. This is the largest ICU in Maine. It features single rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and collaborates closely with various disciplines—surgical, cardiac, GI, genetics, renal, palliative care, etc. Neonatologists and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) cover 24/7, supported by a nursing staff of 150. The unit also has an active critical care transport team and a nurse-driven PICC team. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has 31 beds, and the Continuing Care Nursery has 20 beds.
Summary:
Under the supervision of Registered Professional Nurses and according to defined policies and procedures, performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Duties may vary by area of assignment, requiring consideration of the specific needs and behaviors of patient populations.
The Certified Nursing Assistant II assists in providing nursing care to designated patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect care duties.
