Summary of Duties
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will be responsible for providing routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan as directed.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in providing nursing care to residents, including activities of daily living such as bathing, eating, grooming, toileting, and obtaining vital signs.
- Provide and document medication assistance as directed.
- Assist residents in preparing for medical testing, activities, programs, and visits.
- Maintain residents' living areas in a clean and neat condition; change linens as directed.
- Greet newly admitted residents and escort them to their rooms.
- Report changes in residents' condition, such as skin issues, mental status, or medical needs, to the charge nurse immediately.
- Check residents routinely to ensure their personal care needs are met according to their wishes.
- Transport residents to appointments, activities, and social programs as necessary.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Obtain and record residents' blood sugar levels using the Free Style Glucose Monitoring machine, as directed.
- Use the Smart Charting IPAC system to record ADLs and meals.
- Complete incident reports promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or obtain certification within 4 months of hire. CNA experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move consistently throughout the workday.
- Ability to reach, bend, and stoop intermittently.
- Good vision and hearing or use of prosthetics to ensure adequate functioning.
- Ability to push, pull, or move a minimum of 100 pounds using proper body mechanics and assistance.
- Ability to walk/stand for 75% of the day.
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress.
