Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the CNA is to ensure residents receive proper care through various tasks such as:
- Assisting residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing.
- Feeding residents, providing bedside water, snacks, and transferring residents to and from dining areas as per nutritional plans.
- Responding promptly to call lights and resident requests for assistance, following facility policies.
- Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing personal belongings.
- Observing and reporting any changes in residents' appetite, skin condition, or behaviors that are out of the ordinary.
- Offering emotional support and actively listening to residents to build trust and promote independence.
- Protecting resident confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Documenting medical information such as vitals and assistance provided, according to facility policies.
- Adhering to safety protocols, infection control measures, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (unless working under a student permit).
- Certification by the Florida State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing. CNAs transferring from another state may work for 120 days while awaiting Florida certification. Graduating students awaiting certification may also work for 120 days.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.
- Understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within Florida.
- Interpersonal skills, including:
- Assisting licensed nurses with procedures within the scope of a nurse aide;
- Following written and verbal instructions, working independently, and making decisions when needed;
- Dealing tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff;
- Working harmoniously with all personnel;
- Prioritizing tasks according to standards and policies;
- Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA;
- Exhibiting patience, enthusiasm, and maturity in resident care;
- Adhering to professional ethics;
- Communicating resident condition updates to staff.
