Job Description
Perform patient care in a 75-bed inpatient hospital, including monitoring patient conditions, assisting medical staff, providing age-appropriate care, and transporting patients. Work involves supporting therapeutic programs, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and infection control standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Patient-Centric Care: Provide compassionate support, assist with personal care, and communicate effectively with patients and families. (20%)
- Room Preparation & Vital Signs: Prepare patient rooms, take vital signs, and collect specimens. (15%)
- Rehabilitation Assistance: Support therapeutic activities and operate equipment. (15%)
- Support to Medical Staff: Assist during examinations and procedures. (5%)
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and sanitize equipment, assist with transportation, and maintain a safe environment. (10%)
- Resource Utilization: Manage supplies, dispose of waste, and maintain inventory. (5%)
- Infection Control & Safety: Follow infection control policies, sanitize equipment, and maintain safety standards. (5%)
- Patient Engagement & Activities: Engage patients in recreational activities and outings. (5%)
- Transportation of Patients: Safely transport patients, inspect vehicles, and ensure timely arrivals. (5%)
- Training & Compliance: Maintain certifications, adhere to regulations, and participate in audits. (10%)
- Other Duties: Support disaster response and continuity operations as needed. (5%)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of motor vehicle operations, hospital policies, patient care, and regulations.
- Skill in using patient care equipment and providing age-appropriate care.
- Ability to communicate effectively, work cooperatively, and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting up to 150 lbs, bending, and manual dexterity.
Licenses & Certifications
- Texas Nurse’s Aide Certificate or ability to obtain within 5 months.
- Valid Texas driver’s license or obtain within 90 days.
- Current CPR certification.
Initial Screening & Additional Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Military experience relevant to the role is encouraged.
- Ability to meet physical demands and wear protective equipment.
- Compliance with tobacco-free policies and employment checks.
