Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing resident care and support in all activities of daily living, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of all residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with serving meals and feeding; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
• Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and helping residents with showers and baths.
• Assist residents with ambulating, turning, and positioning.
• Maintain resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; recording intake and output.
• Ensure resident comfort by responding to call lights and requests, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
• Complete documentation such as forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Protect privacy and dignity by maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and related laws.
• Follow professional standards, company policies, procedures, and all applicable laws, including JCAHO standards.
• Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, join professional organizations, and maintain licensure to update job knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements include:

• Current certification as a CNA according to state laws.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Long-term care experience is preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
