Position Overview:

The CNA is a member of the community nursing team responsible for assisting professional nursing staff by providing direct, hands-on care to residents. The role involves helping residents achieve the highest possible level of functioning and supporting their ability to live as independently as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to call lights to ensure resident comfort, safety, and privacy.
• Transport residents via ambulation or wheelchair within the community.
• Report significant observations to nurses immediately.
• Assist with resident admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Safeguard residents’ personal possessions.
• Maintain clean and safe resident rooms.
• Follow infection control protocols.
• Respect residents’ privacy and confidentiality.
• Re-teach ADL skills to residents as needed.
• Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores and other complications.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicate with residents and families to assist with community adjustment.
• Ensure residents are adequately hydrated and nourished, reporting deviations.
• Accurately perform vital signs and other assessments.

Qualifications:

• Active, valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of employment.
