Job summary

St. Luke’s Health System is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our outpatient Surgery Center team. You will assist with patient intake, vital signs, and discharge, while maintaining infection control and a safe environment.

The ideal candidate holds a current CNA and BLS certification, with preferred experience in ambulatory surgery and EMR documentation. The role offers a daytime schedule with no nights, weekends, or on-call commitments.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from recognized providers.
  • Experience in ambulatory surgery or outpatient care preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patient intake, preparation, and discharge activities.
  • Obtain, document, and report vital signs accurately.
  • Perform point-of-care urine pregnancy testing per protocol.
  • Perform bladder scans and report results to the clinical team.
  • Assist with mobility, comfort measures, and activities of daily living.
  • Provide compassionate, professional customer service to patients and families.
  • Clean and prepare patient care rooms between cases and maintain readiness.
  • Monitor supplies and support infection prevention practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to promote efficient patient flow.
  • Communicate patient needs and changes in condition promptly.

Are you a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) looking for a rewarding opportunity in a fast-paced outpatient surgical setting? Join our Surgery Center team and play an essential role in delivering exceptional, patient-centered care while helping create a positive experience for patients and their families throughout their surgical journey.

Our Surgery Center features two operating rooms and cares for up to 16 patients per day in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. We are open Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing the work-life balance healthcare professionals value—with no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.

This position may include variable shifts based on patient volumes and operational needs, offering flexibility while supporting the changing demands of a dynamic outpatient surgery center.

What to Expect
Patient Care
  • Assist with patient intake, preparation, and discharge activities.
  • Obtain, document, and report vital signs accurately.
  • Perform point-of-care urine pregnancy testing according to established protocols.
  • Perform bladder scans and communicate results to the clinical team.
  • Assist patients with mobility, comfort measures, and activities of daily living as needed.
  • Provide compassionate, professional customer service to patients and families throughout their visit.
Clinical Operations
  • Clean and prepare patient care rooms between cases, ensuring proper sanitization and readiness for the next patient.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked, and safe clinical environment.
  • Monitor and replenish supplies within patient care areas.
  • Support infection prevention and safety practices in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning and readiness for daily operations.
Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to promote efficient patient flow.
  • Communicate patient needs, concerns, and changes in condition promptly.
  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional patient experience.
  • Support center goals related to quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Preferred
  • Previous experience in ambulatory surgery, perioperative services, outpatient care, or another procedural setting.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
Required
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross, or American Health Institute.
