General Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services according to their assessment and care plan, under the supervision of your supervisors.
Essential Duties
- Identify residents using wristbands or photo cards before administering treatments or serving meals.
- Use only authorized abbreviations when recording information.
- Report changes in residents' conditions promptly to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Record entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts clearly and informatively.
- Report all accidents and incidents observed during your shift.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and report any violations or unauthorized access to information systems.
- Perform only those nursing procedures you have been trained for.
- Prepare residents' rooms for their arrival, ensuring beds are made, tags are up, and supplies are available.
- Greet residents, escort them to their rooms, and introduce them to roommates and staff as appropriate.
- Make residents comfortable and assist with personal possessions, including packing, storing, and transferring.
- Transport residents as needed and assist with loading/unloading from vehicles.
- Create a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout your shift.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss and improve service quality.
- Address resident complaints and grievances appropriately.
- Participate in nursing reports and follow established policies for exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous chemicals.
- Make beds, add extra covers as requested, and measure vital signs as instructed.
- Check residents frequently, respond promptly to calls, and monitor personal care needs.
- Assist residents with food arrangements, record food/fluid intake, and perform after-meal care.
- Follow work schedules and cooperate with other departments to ensure quality nursing services.
- Notify the facility of lateness or absences, report occupational exposures, and assist with daily functions and mobility.
- Perform restorative procedures, assist with medical tests, and observe residents for signs of skin breakdown or injuries.
- Immediately notify supervisors of any residents leaving or missing from the facility.
- Use only trained equipment, report defects, and maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
- Report any resident abuse or property misappropriation and honor residents' treatment refusals, reporting such to supervisors.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10th-grade education.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional and technical documents.
- Ability to write reports and communicate effectively.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various forms.
- Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws; CPR certification preferred.
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds, prolonged use of a computer, and regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, reading, and hearing are required. Assistance with resident evacuation during emergencies may be necessary.
