Summit Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Quality Care Team. This full-time, evening shift role at our Edmond hospital involves four 10-hour shifts.

Position Summary:

The CNA assists in patient care across nursing areas, ensuring safe transport of patients, performing clerical duties, and providing constant observation for at-risk patients. Employees may be cross-trained and expected to perform duties beyond their typical scope as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Observe and report patient status and needs
2. Respond to call lights and attend to needs
3. Obtain weights, vital signs, and report results
4. Perform glucometer testing and report results
5. Obtain and transport specimens
6. Update patient intake/output records
7. Assist with ambulation and ADLs
8. Assist with feeding and elimination
9. Transport and reposition patients
10. Make beds and maintain a safe, clean environment
11. Set up simple traction and assist with admissions/discharges
12. Assist with postmortem care and transport to the morgue
13. Provide emotional support to patients and families
14. Perform other duties as assigned
15. Follow policies and maintain confidentiality
16. Build effective relationships with patients, families, and staff
17. Accurately document all records
18. Participate in Quality Assessment activities

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Training or experience as CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, or similar
• Basic Life Support certification

Preferred:

• Previous hospital experience

Skills and Knowledge:

• Assist postoperative care
• CPR certification
• Basic computer skills

Essential Functions: The ability to perform all duties satisfactorily, including attending training, maintaining certifications, responding quickly, and working independently.

Physical/Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, document accurately, and handle physical tasks such as walking, lifting, and standing for long periods.
