Summit Medical Center is looking for a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Quality Care Team. This position is available at our Edmond hospital and is a full-time PM shift role, requiring 4 x 10-hour shifts.

Position Summary:
Assists in patient care throughout nursing areas and is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Responsibilities:
1. Observes and reports patient’s status and needs
2. Answers call lights and attends to or reports needs
3. Obtains weights, vital signs and reports results
4. Performs glucometer testing and reports results
5. Obtains specimens and transports to and sends through designated tube
6. Updates patient Intake/Output including oral intake only, measured urine output, and measured urinary catheter output after emptying
7. Assists patient with ambulation as ordered
8. Assists patient with ADLs including cleansing of perineal area and catheter
9. Assists patient with feeding/meals
10. Assists patient with elimination needs
11. Transports, transfers, moves and repositions patients
12. Makes occupied/unoccupied beds and assists with maintaining a safe, clean and orderly environment
13. Sets up simple traction
14. Assists with admissions, transfers and discharges
15. Assists with postmortem care including transport to the morgue
16. Gives patients and family members emotional support as necessary
17. Performs other duties as assigned
18. Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures
19. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business
20. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees
21. Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy
22. Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business

Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. Training/equivalent experience as a nursing assistant, CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant
3. Previous hospital experience preferred
4. Basic Life Support required
Special Skills and Knowledge:
1. Assist with care of the postoperative patient
2. CPR Certification
3. Basic Computer Knowledge
