Job Overview


The Clinical Assistant role is critical to the care our families receive at Children's Hospital Colorado. This position serves as a system-wide resource, by assisting patients and families in personal hygiene and daily living needs while ensuring they are comfortable and stable through vital sign monitoring. In addition, this role supports and assists nursing personnel and other providers in diagnostic procedures and technical treatments and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The North Campus Inpatient Unit is a 16 room/17 bed med/surg unit. Our patient population varies from respiratory, to diabetes, to post-op and everything in between.

Annual Salary Range $41,600 to $51,171 (Based on 40 hours worked per week and years of experience) / Hourly

Hours per week: Part Time (3-12hr shifts per week)

Shift: Night Shift (6:45pm - 7:15am)

Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association is required. Designation as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), and/or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required.
  • LICENSURE - Current Colorado state CNA license or Current Colorado state Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or A-EMT or EMT-Intermediate

Job Highlights:

  • Attends to the individual needs of patients, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, providing comfort and communicating patient needs with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs various tasks as assigned, including checking vital signs, weighing patients, applying creams/ointments, applying/changing dressings and collecting specimens.
  • Meets patient needs by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to healthcare team members.
  • Serves as a conduit between patients and other healthcare providers by recording and communicating all issues to medical team members.
