Job summary

Qualifications

• Licensure as Registered Nurse in RI per RI Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
• American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) required.
• Current RI midwifery licensure and controlled substance registration.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, monitors and examines women during pregnancy.
• Develops, assesses and evaluates individual care programs.
• Provides full antenatal care, including screening tests.
• Identifies high risk pregnancies in collaboration with doctors and specialists.
• Arranges parenting and health education for patient and family.
• Encourages family participation in birth to support mother and baby bonding.
• Offers support after miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal issues as applicable.
• Provides intra-partum care and labor support with pain management within CNM scope.
• Guides safe discharge planning and continuity of care across providers.
• Acts as liaison with outside agencies to ensure continuity of care.
• Engages in professional development and supervision of junior colleagues.
