The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) works under the general supervision of the physician and in collaboration with the Senior Certified Nurse Midwife. The CNM is responsible for providing direct clinical care in the out-patient practice and in-patient hospital coverage. The CNM is responsible for the full scope of midwifery practice including well woman gynecological care throughout the reproductive Brown University Health, peri and post menopausal periods, GYN problem visits, testing and contraception counseling and prescription, insertion and removal of intrauterine devices. The CNM manages high risk pregnancies in consultation with physicians.All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patient.
