Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a certified nurse-midwife to provide comprehensive obstetric care in a full-time role. You will evaluate and order prenatal tests, interpret results, and coordinate referrals as needed.

The position involves delivery coverage, collaboration with physicians, and ongoing education and quality improvement activities. The role includes postpartum rounds, discharge planning, and supervision of students and residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited midwifery program with Certificate of nurse-midwifery.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• NJ Nurse Midwife license or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates need for and ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests; reviews and records laboratory results.
• Assesses need for referral to other healthcare providers.
• Educates patients and families; encourages participation in decisions.
• Participates in labor and delivery coverage and triage decisions; acts as stand-by for deliveries when needed.
• Collaborates with physicians; may assist Cesarean sections as required.
• Completes postpartum rounds and discharge summaries; handles billing at discharge.
• Participates in multidisciplinary conferences; attends Obstetrics Department meetings and professional organization contacts.
• Engages in performance improvement and continuing education; mentors students and residents.
