Job summary

Novant Health Coastal Carolina Medical Center is seeking a CNA for the Surgical Short Stay unit in Hardeeville, SC. The role focuses on rapid preparation, post-operative monitoring, and safe discharge under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, completion of NAI, and at least one year of related experience. The unit operates Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, with no weekends or holidays. Tuition reimbursement and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, required; Completion of NAI program, required.
• Experience: One year of relevant experience, preferred; One year required in Assisted Living facilities.
• Licensure/Certification: Completion of NAI program; Listed with the nurse aide registry as an NA I; Medication Safety - AME; NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions within 3 months of hire.
• Additional skills: Basic computer skills for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients and families and setting up their designated short-stay bays or rooms.
• Measuring and documenting oral fluid intake, as well as emptying and recording output from urine bags or surgical drains.
• Helping patients change back into their personal clothes and gathering their belongings.
• Keeping pre-op and post-op bays continuously stocked with gowns, linens, and clinical supplies.

In a Surgical Short Stay Unit CNAs play a critical role in facilitating fast-paced patient turnover. Because patients are admitted, operated on, and discharged within the same day, a CNA's primary duties focus on rapid preparation, close post-operative monitoring, and safe discharge under the supervision of a RN.

NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, Required.
• Additional skills preferred: Basic computer skills for documentation.
