Job summary

Lifepoint Health's Rehabilitation Institute of South San Antonio seeks a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) for PRN night shifts. You will deliver basic patient care under nursing supervision, assist with daily living activities, and support patient comfort in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a CNA program, CPR/BCLS, and six months of acute or long-term care experience. Weekend and holiday shifts are included.

Qualifications

• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• CPR/BCLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic patient care under supervision of nursing staff, supporting patient comfort and daily living activities.
• Provide nursing support such as positioning, lifting, turning, and using equipment.
• Assist with toileting needs using bedpans, urinals, commodes, or ambulation to the bathroom.
• Take and record vital signs and intake/output, documenting promptly.
• Prepare rooms for admission and transfer; ensure cleanliness and equipment readiness.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable environment with proper ventilation and lighting.
• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge procedures and handling patient belongings.
• Answer call lights, phones, and pages promptly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

How you’ll contribute

A Certified Nurse Aide CNAwho excels in this role is responsible for delivering basic patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, supporting patients' comfort and assisting with daily living activities and clinical procedures.:

• Perform basic patient care tasks including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
• Provide general nursing support such as positioning, lifting, turning, and using special equipment.
• Assist with toileting needs using bedpans, urinals, commodes, or ambulation to the bathroom.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake/output measurements accurately and document in a timely manner.
• Prepare patient rooms for admission and transfer, ensuring cleanliness and equipment readiness.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment with attention to ventilation and lighting.
• Support patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, including handling of patient belongings.
• Answer patient call lights, phones, and pages, responding promptly and appropriately.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a nursing assistant training course.

Experience

Minimum six months of experience in an acute care or long-term care setting preferred.

Licenses

Current state certification as a Nursing Assistant.

Certifications

CPR/BCLS certification required.

Schedule: PRN 12 hr. Nights (7p-7a), includes weekend and holiday shifts
