Position: Certified Nursing Assistant

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for delivering and assisting residents with daily needs, including personal care, preparation for activity and social programs, and routine activities in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations, and licensing requirements. Provides basic nursing care within the scope of nursing assistant responsibilities and performs basic procedures under the direction of a licensed nurse supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Provide residents’ personal hygiene, including bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assist with travel to the bathroom; help with showers and baths.
• Assist with activities of daily living by serving meals, feeding residents as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning residents.
• Assist with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., in keeping with specific resident safety needs; assist residents in preparation for and transporting to appointments, activities, and social programs.
• Participate in meal service including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining area; ensure residents are positioned appropriately for meals; provide appropriate utensils; serve food trays and assist with feeding as indicated; deliver and document all snacks and supplements; provide hydration according to center policy.
• Maintain resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information.
• Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Keep resident information confidential and maintain company integrity.
• Review care plans routinely to determine if changes in the residents’ care routines have been made.
• Participate in nursing reports upon reporting for duty and during shift change.
• Make beds (occupied and unoccupied); change bed linens and keep linens tight to avoid wrinkles; handle linens according to infection control guidelines.
• Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, linens when wet or soiled; assist with bowel and bladder functions.
• Maintain cleanliness of resident units, central bathing area, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms and linen closets; clean bedpans, urinals, and commodes; wash basins and emesis basins; sanitize bathtub after each resident’s use; clean floors if resident is incontinent; wipe spilled foods and liquids.
• Provide post‑mortem care as instructed.
• Perform other duties, responsibilities and activities as assigned at any time with or without notice.
