Summary

Administers medications as documented in the MAR, following proper techniques to ensure safety and accuracy. Completes medication passes within the designated time frame 100% of the time, documents all medication activities appropriately, and maintains supplies and equipment on medication carts. Alerts the charge nurse to needs for supplies or medications promptly. Ensures medication carts are locked, stocked, and cleaned at shift start and end. Monitors residents’ responses to medications, reports observations to the Charge Nurse, and administers PRN medications with approval, continuing to monitor for side effects or unusual behaviors. Assists with reordering medications as needed, works safely to minimize loss, and ensures resident safety. Completes ongoing education, accepts reassignments, and communicates pertinent information to RN and LPN colleagues. Maintains confidentiality and effective working relationships with team members, charge nurses, and managers. Provides shift reports, responds to resident call lights, assists with ADLs, and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma preferred, but not required.
  • Certification as a Nurse Assistant in the state of employment.
  • Certification as a Medication Technician in the state of employment.
  • Insulin certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
  • CPR certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Recent long-term care experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and organize daily tasks to meet productivity standards.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects using proper techniques and assistance as needed.
  • Ability to transfer and move patients weighing 200+ lbs with proper assistance and lifting techniques.
  • Ability to push and pull equipment weighing over 40 lbs with proper techniques and assistance.
  • Manual dexterity, coordination, and skillful use of hands for working with patients and equipment.
  • Ability to perform necessary documentation manually or using recording devices.
  • Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish colors.

Pay range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
