Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a Certified Medication Technician at our Cedarhurst of Blue Springs community.
As a Certified Medication Technician, you will promote the delivery of resident care utilizing a team approach in conjunction with resident assistants, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Your role will be as a primary provider of resident care and distribution of medications, aiming to promote physical, personal, and emotional well-being of each resident, and to maintain the goal of returning residents to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible.
Working with the Director of Nursing, you will impact the lives of our residents by:
- Providing direct resident care services including medication distribution, following individualized care plans.
- Performing resident evaluations as required by state standards/regulations and facility policies under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
- Observing residents for changes in condition and reporting immediately to supervisor and/or the Executive Director.
- Providing timely interventions for changes in condition and sharing this information with care staff and families as instructed.
- Assisting in completing and maintaining current individualized care plans for each resident.
- Providing interim documentation and attending all scheduled interdisciplinary resident care meetings.
- Checking and recording vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned.
- Assisting residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, toileting, and dressing.
- Assisting with transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics, and responding to urgent calls as needed.
- Participating in medication delivery system oversight, including timely order entry, receipt, tracking, MAR documentation, narcotic counts, and medication checks, ensuring compliance and resolving issues promptly.
- Providing glucose monitoring and insulin administration (applicable for CMTs and insulin-certified CMAs/L1MAs).
- Working well with others, taking direction, and showing initiative to meet residents' needs.
- Remaining flexible and able to work weekends as necessary.
To qualify as a Certified Medication Technician, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or GED and current state certification for roles such as CMT, QMA, CMA, L1MA (insulin certified).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR certification.
- At least one year of related experience, preferably in senior care, with knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding assisted living care.
- Professional conduct, conflict resolution skills, and physical ability to perform job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs independently and 200 lbs with assistance.
- Self-motivation, accountability, and knowledge of computer applications like Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
