Qualifications

  • Certification as a Nurse Assistant and Medication Technician is required.
  • Insulin and CPR certifications must be obtained within six months.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Medication Technician administers medications as documented in the MAR, following proper techniques and completing medication passes safely within the designated time frame 100% of the time. They document all medications accurately, maintain supplies and equipment on medication carts, and ensure carts are locked, stocked, and cleaned at shift start and end. They monitor residents' responses to medications, report observations to the Charge Nurse, and administer PRN medications with approval, monitoring responses throughout the shift. They assist with reordering medications as needed, work safely to minimize loss, and protect residents. Continuing education, in-services, and taking on increased responsibilities help maintain job duties as a CMT. They interact effectively with team members, maintain confidentiality, and communicate pertinent information to RN and LPN staff. They provide shift reports, assist residents with ADLs, answer call lights, and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma preferred, but not required
  • Certification as a Nurse Assistant in the state of employment
  • Certification as a Medication Technician in the state of employment
  • Insulin certification required or willing to obtain within six months
  • CPR certification required or willing to obtain within six months
  • Recent long-term care experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Ability to manage time and organize daily tasks efficiently
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift heavy objects using proper techniques and assistance as needed
  • Ability to transfer and move patients weighing 200+ lbs with proper techniques and assistance
  • Ability to push and pull equipment weighing over 40 lbs with assistance
  • Manual dexterity and coordination for working with patients and equipment
  • Ability to perform documentation manually or using recording devices
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors

Pay range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
