Summary

Administers medications as documented in the MAR, following proper techniques to ensure safety and accuracy. Completes medication passes within the designated time frame 100% of the time, documenting all medications accurately and appropriately. Maintains supplies and equipment on medication carts, alerting the charge nurse for any needs. Ensures medication carts remain locked, stocked, and clean at shift start and end. Monitors residents' responses to medications, reporting observations to the Charge Nurse. Administers PRN medications with approval, monitoring responses and side effects throughout the shift. Collaborates with the Charge Nurse to reorder medications as needed. Works safely, minimizing loss and ensuring resident protection. Continues education through classes and in-services, accepts reassignments, takes on increased responsibilities, and communicates pertinent information to RN and LPN. Maintains effective working relationships with team members and management, handling confidential information discreetly. Provides shift reports, completes rounds, responds to call lights, and assists with ADLs as needed. May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma preferred, but not required
  • Certification as a Nurse Assistant in the state of employment
  • Certification as a Medication Technician in the state of employment
  • Insulin certification required or willing to obtain within six months
  • CPR certification required or willing to obtain within six months
  • Recent long-term care experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and organize daily tasks effectively
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift heavy objects using proper techniques and assistance as needed
  • Ability to transfer and move patients weighing 200+ lbs with proper techniques and assistance
  • Ability to push and pull equipment over 40 lbs using proper techniques and assistance
  • Manual dexterity and coordination for working with patients and equipment
  • Ability to perform necessary documentation manually or via tape recorder
  • Visual acuity with color distinction
Pay range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
