Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Work under supervision of a licensed nurse to administer medications as authorized.
• Organize medication duties: pouring, passing, and documenting prescribed medications, including PRN medications per instructions.
• Document all PRN medications according to State Standards.
• Observe and report reactions and side effects of medications to the charge nurse.
• Record vital signs before administering medications that could affect them.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications within your scope and document accordingly.
• Administer oxygen in emergencies, notify the nurse immediately, and document the activity.
• Count and document narcotics as directed by the charge nurse.

Qualifications

• Completed a state-approved medication administration training program.
• Possess a current acknowledgment card or certification from the state.
• Willing to comply with state restrictions related to your role.
• Certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification required.
