Position Summary

Administer oral and topical medications to residents as ordered by a physician, under supervision of a licensed nurse, following state and federal regulations. Perform routine tasks to maintain residents' health, comfort, and wellbeing.

Essential Responsibilities

• Administer medications as ordered, under nurse supervision, complying with regulations and policies
• Know and demonstrate the “five rights” of medication administration
• Record medication administration accurately
• Take and record vital signs as assigned
• Report reactions or side effects immediately
• Administer PRN medications per regulations and policies
• Maintain infection control practices and universal precautions
• Report changes in residents' conditions or behavior
• Complete incident reports within 24 hours
• Communicate with medical and nursing staff
• Supervise care staff in the absence of nurses
• Maintain the medication room
• Participate in training and staff meetings
• Handle hazardous chemicals and infectious waste safely
• Maintain confidentiality and treat residents and staff with respect
• Follow Resident’s Rights policies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or related experience/training
• Certified Medication Technician certification required
