Job summary

Heritage Plaza Nursing Center in Texarkana, TX is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our clinical team on a full-time basis. You will administer oral and topical medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with physician orders and state and federal regulations.

This role requires knowledge of the five rights of medication administration, accurate record-keeping, and vigilant observation of residents for reactions.

Qualifications

• State certification as a nurse aide is required.
• State approved medication administration certification.
• Complete familiarity with duties of a certified nurse aide.
• Highly developed observation skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of the “five rights” of medication administration.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
