Job summary

The Laurels Of Sandy Creek is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to safely administer routine medications to residents under the delegated supervision of a licensed nurse in Michigan. You will ensure timely delivery, monitor for adverse reactions, and document accurately in accordance with state regulations and facility policies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Michigan Board of Nursing approved Medication Aide training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered, excluding controlled substances and IV or injections.
• Review medication records for completeness and transcription accuracy; ensure adherence to stop orders.
• Follow the rights of medication administration and infection prevention standards.
• Verify physician orders prior to administration and clarify discrepancies with the RN Supervisor.
• Measure, prepare, and administer medications accurately and safely.
• Observe residents for adverse reactions or medication errors and report concerns promptly.
• Ensure medications are stored, handled, and disposed of per regulatory requirements.
• Notify RN Supervisor of any accidents, incidents, or condition changes.
• Review residents’ charts for treatments and orders as needed.
• Take and record vital signs as necessary.

Education
