Job summary

The Springs Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Cedar Park, TX is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to support residents by administering medications accurately and in a timely manner, following physician orders and nursing standards.

You will observe residents for medication effectiveness and adverse effects, document care related to medications, and report changes to the licensed nurse. The role includes performing CNA duties as needed and adhering to infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare environment (minimum 1 year)
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job tasks
• Act with compassion and provide supportive care

Responsibilities

• Obtain report from licensed nurse/CMA being relieved and record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
• Administer medications to residents in an accurate, timely manner (correct resident, medication, dose, route, time).
• Observe residents for drug therapy effectiveness and adverse effects; report to licensed nurse.
• Document resident cares related to medication administration and monitoring; report changes to licensed nurse.
• Notify licensed nurse of observed changes in residents’ conditions and any medication-related issues.
• Perform duties of Certified Nurse Aide as assigned.
• Follow care plans related to medication administration based on resident needs and assessments.
• Participate in community education programs.
• Promptly report observed changes in residents’ conditions to the licensed nurse.
• Respond to residents’ call for assistance promptly.
• Verify narcotic count; check emergency kit and exchange keys.
• Obtain in-service hours required; observe infection control procedures.
• Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.
• Store medications accurately and monitor expiration dates; follow destruction procedures.
