Job summary

Heritage Villa is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to administer medications and monitor residents in a compassionate, patient-focused environment. The role requires CMA certification with an active Oklahoma CNA, good communication skills, and basic computer literacy. Prior long-term care experience is preferred.

Hours include Monday–Friday shifts with additional PRN opportunities. We offer PTO, tuition reimbursement, holidays with premium pay, a 401(k) plan, and comprehensive health

Qualifications

• Must pass a state-issued CMA exam.
• Active CMA certification with Oklahoma CNA in good standing.
• Six months experience in long-term care preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications as ordered under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Record all medications accurately in the patient chart.
• Monitor residents and report health changes.
• Respond to resident call lights and assist with rounds.
• Maintain safety and quality standards in resident care.

Available Shifts: Monday - Friday

• Days- 6:30 am - 2:30 pm
• Mids- 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm
• Weekend Doubles w/ Baylor Pay- 6:30 am - 10:30 pm

Essential Functions of Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

• Performs resident care responsibilities in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort consistent with Company Healthcare Clinical Policies and Procedures as well as state/federal guidelines and regulations
• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with center policy
• Must demonstrate knowledge of “five rights” of medication administration
• Administers and records all medication given to residents based upon their specific chart
• Notifies appropriate licensed staff when a resident complains of pain.
• May take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed
• Answers resident call lights, anticipates resident’s needs and makes rounds to assigned resident under the supervision of a licensed nurse or charge nurse on the shift
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift
• Performs all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
• Support and maintains a culture of safety and quality
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with center policy
• Reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications of Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

• High School diploma or general equivalency is preferred
• Must pass a state-issued exam
• Required valid certification as a CMA with active CNA in the state of Oklahoma
• Six months experience in a long-term care environment is preferred
• Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and facility staff
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Additional languages preferred
• Basic computer knowledge
