Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the specimen receiving and central files office. You'll receive, verify, process, and route specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and specimen integrity for timely delivery.

You will assist with documentation, data entry, and issue resolution in close partnership with laboratory teams to keep testing on track. A related associate's degree is required and MLT certification must be obtained within 13 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a related field required. Students in a related associate's degree program must obtain degree within nine (9) months from date of hire to classification.
• Must be certified as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) with the ASCP or AMT within thirteen (13) months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, process, and route specimens to the appropriate testing areas.
• Ensure accurate labeling and specimen integrity for timely delivery.
• Assist with managing documentation, data entry, and issue resolution in collaboration with laboratory teams.
