Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with CPT, ICD and HCPCS code assignment.
• Knowledge of regulatory and payer-specific coding guidelines.
• Demonstrates anatomy, physiology and medical terminology knowledge.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in EMR data entry and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.
• HIPAA confidentiality maintained throughout.
• Compliance with coding rules and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and code office and hospital procedures for reimbursement.
• Clarify information with physicians and other parties.
• Apply CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes accurately for compliant coding.
• Work on rejected/denied claims and assist in denial resolution.
• Communicate updates on coding changes and guidelines to supervisors/providers.
• Assist providers with documentation and compliant coding for reimbursement.
• Monitor documentation for trends and regulatory compliance; report findings.
• Audit reports to identify and correct coding errors.
• Aim to achieve coding productivity and accuracy targets within 6 months.
