Carle Health is seeking an HIM Certified Coder to accurately code hospital inpatient, outpatient, and professional encounters using ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. The coder will review clinical encounters in the EMR, apply CMS and AHIMA guidelines, and participate in audits and provider education to ensure accurate charge capture across departments.

Qualifications

• Certified professional coders with inpatient, outpatient and professional fee coding experience.
• Must hold CIC/CCS-P/CCS or AHIMA/AAPC certifications.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS and coding software; CMS/Regulatory guidelines knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, outpatient and professional encounters accurately using ICD10/ICD-PCS, CPT, or HCPCS codes.
• Apply CPT modifiers and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliant billing.
• Perform coding audits and assist with education and training as needed.
• Collaborate with billing and coding staff to resolve charge and edit issues.
• Maintain coding certifications and stay current with coding guidelines.
