Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an HIM Certified Coder in Champaign, IL to accurately code hospital inpatient, hospital outpatient, and professional encounters using ICD-10/ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS with coding software. The coder will ensure compliance with CMS and local guidelines and resolve coding-related billing edits, acting as a coding expert across departments.

Qualified candidates must hold CPC, COC, CIC, CCS-P, CCS, RHIT or RHIA credentials from AAPC/AHIMA and maintain certification.

Qualifications

• Certifications required include CPC, COC, CIC, CCS-P, CCS, RHIT and RHIA from AAPC/AHIMA.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code all records using ICD-10/ICD-PCS, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers.
• Ensure diagnoses and procedures reflect patient records.
• Provide interdepartmental coding support to determine accurate assignments.
• Follow CMS, CPT and other guidance to maintain compliance.
• Participate in audits and monitoring to optimize revenue and compliance.
• Serve as coding subject-matter expert for CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain coding certifications and perform provider/peer coding audits as needed.
• Support external audit activities and reporting to leadership.
