JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified to be an integral member of the healthcare team, providing direct and indirect care to patients at the Duke Women’s Health Clinic located at 5601 Arringdon Park Drive, Suite 430, Morrisville, NC. The schedule is generally 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential evening and weekend hours, but no holidays or on-call responsibilities. Opportunities for professional development include advancing on the CMA clinical ladder and participating in clinic committees.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform patient intake, including vital signs, visit information, and other clinical data.
• Handle telephone messages, document encounters, follow clinic protocols, and inform providers accordingly.
• Administer medications and injections as ordered or per established protocols, adhering to the six rights of medication administration.
• Assist providers with procedures such as annual exams, biopsies, IUD placement, Nexplanon removal/insertion, miscarriage care, LEEP, and colposcopies.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Set up for clinical procedures, perform high-level disinfection and sterilization, and other related tasks within scope of practice.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications and medical equipment as needed.
• Float within the clinic to support patient and provider needs as delegated by supervisors.
• Occasionally support other locations such as Raleigh or Durham clinics.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (CAAHEP or ABHES preferred).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required; include certification details on resume.
• BLS certification required.
