Community Health Systems is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support both clinical and administrative operations in our Fort Wayne, IN clinic. You will assist with procedures, maintain exam rooms, and help manage patient intake while delivering outstanding service.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, patient education, and collaboration with licensed personnel to ensure safe, efficient care. 0-1 year experience in a medical setting is preferred; externship accepted.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient care techniques.
• Proficiency in medical record systems and basic computer applications (MS Office, Google Suite).
• Understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent patient service.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Critical thinking skills for analyzing and resolving clinical and administrative challenges.
• Ability to perform care according to age-specific competencies.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA or NCMA-NCTT licenses required; BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers with clinical procedures such as taking vital signs, wound care, injections, phlebotomy, vaccines, EKGs, and splints.
• Prepares and cleans exam rooms for patient visits and procedures.
• Manages patient intake, including reporting test results and phone triage.
• Maintains daily logs and documentation.
• Supports administrative duties like pre-registering patients, scheduling, referrals, and insurance verification.
• Keeps an organized workload and delivers prompt, courteous service to patients and visitors.
• Monitors clinic supplies and equipment to ensure inventory and functionality.
• Educates patients on medications, diets, and health topics; answers questions for understanding.
