Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant to support providers in a busy medical practice. The role encompasses routine administrative tasks and patient care to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, gathering medical histories, processing referrals and appointments, and performing clinical procedures under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days required.
• CMA certification preferred (AAMA or NCCT).
• CCMA or NRCMA certifications accepted.
• RMA certification accepted by major cert bodies.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect chief complaint, family, social and medical history.
• Handle telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and facilities per policy.
• Gather and maintain patient information via telephone.
• Perform administrative duties: check-in/out, scheduling, verifications, referrals, and test scheduling.
• Perform clinical procedures as directed (catheterizations, bladder scanning, sutures, TB test reading, POCT).
• Provide patient instructions and education materials as directed by providers.
• Administer medications and injections as ordered; handle refills per protocol.
• Doc actions in EMR and communicate lab results to patients.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - AAMA or NCCT CMA

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - NHA or NRCMA - NAHP

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - AMT/AAH/ARMA
