Job summary

Prisma Health seeks a detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support primary care in Duncan, SC. Under supervision, you will perform clinical and administrative duties, prepare examination rooms, and assist with examinations and procedures.

You will document patient data, manage scheduling and billing tasks, and participate in patient education with physician oversight. The role requires completion of an approved medical assisting program, with various pathways accepted by SC standards.

Qualifications

• Education: In South Carolina, completion of a medical assisting program from a recognized accrediting body.
• Education: In Tennessee, completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
• Experience - No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical, technical, administrative and clerical duties as directed by the physician and within the scope of training and certification.
• Receives critical lab values, reports value to physician and documents notification in medical record.
• Prepares patients for examination and treatment, records chief complaints, medications, vitals, allergies and pain screening.
• Assists physician with examinations, tests, procedures, and office-based surgery.
• Prepares and administers medications and immunizations as ordered by the physician, after competency demonstration.
• Documents data and care in the patient medical record and handles scheduling, registrations and billing tasks as assigned.
