Job summary

Prisma Health in Columbia, SC seeks a Medical Assistant to support Gastroenterology 3 Medical Park. Under physician supervision, you’ll perform patient care and clerical duties, including prep for examinations and routine procedures, vitals, medications, and documentation.

You will also assist during exams, manage patient education, and handle scheduling, insurance forms, and pre-authorizations to keep clinic operations smooth and patient-centered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a medical assisting education program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES or equivalent.
• SC Department of Education approved Health Sciences program.
• Military training CMA program may apply.
• DOL-approved CMA registered apprenticeship welcome.
• PHCI Fast Track CMA program may apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical, technical, administrative and clerical duties as directed by the physician.
• Prepares patients for examination and records chief complaints, meds, vitals and allergies.
• Assists physician with examinations, tests, procedures and office-based surgery.
• Prepares and administers medications and immunizations as ordered, after competency demonstration.
• Documents data and care in the patient medical record and handles scheduling, insurance forms, and billing tasks.
