Job summary

Summit Health is seeking a Medical Assistant at our Pearland, TX location to support patient care and ensure a superior patient experience. You will welcome patients, communicate clearly about services, and assist clinicians with exams and procedures.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic lab tasks, while maintaining clean treatment areas and providing compassionate care to diverse patients.

Qualifications

• Nationally Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers required
• 1 year of experience preferred
• Phlebotomy experience required
• High School Diploma/Equivalency required
• Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs point-of-care laboratory tests, EKGs as ordered or indicated, suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and other patient care activities
• Collects and documents vital signs, histories, and screenings
• Authorizes prescription refills as directed
• Prepares patients, room, and supplies for visits or examinations
• Performs phlebotomy and correctly processes specimens
• Cleans and maintains treatment rooms and equipment
• Other duties as assigned
• Demonstrates kindness and compassion in all patient interactions
• Performs quality controls and equipment checks
• Participate in brand marketing, rotating throughout the vestibule, with a focus on engaging and increasing patient volume
• Prepares and administers PO, IM, and ID medications as directed by the Provider
• Provides instruction to the patient regarding medications and diet
• Participates in the commitment to health equity and patient-first care
