Job summary

Ascension Medical Group in Owasso, OK is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support the Primary Care team. You’ll assist with patient examinations under supervision, prepare treatment rooms, measure vital signs, and document encounters, ensuring a smooth patient flow in a full-time days schedule.

Responsibilities include basic clerical duties, charting, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Required licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience.

  • Assist with treatments ordered by provider under supervision.
  • Perform select clinical duties as directed.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including phones, records, and filing.
  • Stock and manage supplies; maintain a clean, orderly environment.
  • Document the provider's encounter and transcribe orders as needed.

Education

High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience
CMA/RMA certification
BLS Provider certification

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).
  • Assist with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse.
  • Perform select clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • May document the provider's encounter with patients.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
Education
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
    • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable
What Additional Preferences We're Seeking
  • Prior CMA experience preferred
  • MA Certification and/or Registration in good standing through AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA
  • Must either be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or in school currently to obtain your CMA/RMA.
