Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our Pediatric Cardiology Team. You will be the first clinical contact for our young patients and families, performing routine tasks alongside cardiac testing, under the Clinical Staffing Matrix guidelines.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited Medical Assistant program and holds CMA certification with BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (certificate, diploma, or associate degree) required.
• Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the listed certifying bodies required.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers and clinical staff with patient rooming, exams, treatments, and minor procedures.
• Obtain patient history and review of systems; measure and document vital signs and screenings.
• Accurately document all care in the EMR using standardized workflows.
• Perform specimen collection, including blood draws, and prepare samples for lab analysis.
• Carry out provider orders within scope of licensure, including administering medications and vaccinations.
• Manage results, patient follow-ups, and tracking systems to support ongoing care.
• Schedule referrals and complete required forms, requisitions, and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• Provide patient and family education as directed by the provider.
• Interpret lab and procedure results within scope and take appropriate next steps.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
• Participate in team communications and meetings; demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong customer service

Location: Cedar Rapids Pediatric Cardiology Clinic - Cedar Rapids, IA

Shift: Part-Time, 24 hours/week- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm

We are seeking a compassionate Certified Medical Assitant (CMA) to join our specialized Pediatric Cardiology Team! In this role, you'll be the first point of clinical contact for our young patients and their famlies. You will work closely with pediatric cardiologists to provide exceptional, family-centered care, performing routine clinical tasks alongside specialized cardiac testing.
