Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinical staff in delivering safe, high-quality patient care. Under the supervision of a health care provider, you will assist with rooming, exams, minor procedures, and vital signs, while maintaining accurate EMR documentation and patient education.

You will perform specimen collection, administer medications and vaccines within licensure, and coordinate referrals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree).
• Current CMA/RMA or listed certification(s) preferred.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• IA/IL Child Abuse mandatory reporter training within 90 days (where applicable).
• IA/IL Adult Dependent Abuse mandatory reporter training within 90 days (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Assist providers and clinical staff with patient rooming, exams, and minor procedures.
• Obtain patient history and review of systems; measure and document vital signs.
• Document all care in the EMR using standardized workflows.
• Perform specimen collection and prepare samples for lab analysis.
• Administer medications and vaccines within licensure and provider orders.
• Manage results, follow-ups, and tracking systems for ongoing care.
• Schedule referrals and complete required forms and coding.
• Provide patient and family education as directed by the provider.
• Interpret lab and procedure results within scope and take appropriate next steps.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Participate in team communications and demonstrate professionalism and reliability.
