Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support patient care in a busy cardiology clinic. The CMA will assist physicians during exams, room patients, document histories and vitals, and provide patient education under licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (certificate, diploma, or associate degree).
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through recognized national bodies.
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC EHR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures.
• Room patients, record histories, vital signs, and document in the EHR.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments within licensure.
• Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care.
• Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
• National Healthcare Association
• American Association of Medical Assistants
• National Center for Competency Testing
• National Certified Medical Assistant
• National Association of Health Professionals
• American Registry of Medical Assistants
• American Allied Health
• American Medical Technologists
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
