Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision. The role includes rooming patients, recording vital signs, screening medication lists in the EHR, and assisting with examinations and procedures.

The position may involve back-office testing and scribing with additional training. The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or Medical Assistant program completion, with certification requirements to be completed within 120 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program
• Certification training and/or testing within 30 days of hire and certification within 120 days of hire
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)
• Opportunity to sit for company proctored certification exam if criteria not met
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordination of patient care under supervision of health care provider
• Prepares and rooms patients, obtain vital signs and document patient information
• Reviews and screens medication list in the EHR; may pend orders for screenings and prescriptions
• Performs back office testing following AHN protocols
• Assists providers with examination and procedures; may serve as scribe
• Provides follow up with patients via preferred method; communicates test results
• Maintains exam room readiness and inventory of medical supplies
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments; performs lab controls and equipment checks
• Administers and documents medications; documents in EHR
• Performs clerical duties and may float between locations
