Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized care under supervision, supporting patients and providers throughout visits, and ensuring smooth flow of appointments. The role requires a high school diploma and formal MA training, plus MA certification and BLS.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, handle patient registrations, maintain patient confidentiality, and use clinical software to document information while upholding standards of care and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program is preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers patient questions prior to leaving and prepares room for next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
• Completes patient registration and appropriate documentation when necessary.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through ongoing development.
• Adheres to DOT Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing guidelines if working in an occupational health clinic.
• Performs other duties as assigned and complies with policies and standards.
