Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health in Sanford, North Carolina seeks a Medical Assistant to support administrative and clinical requirements in Cape Fear Valley Primary Care - Buffalo Lakes.

Under supervision of the physician and licensed staff, you obtain vitals, update charts, assist with patient education, prepare instruments, and follow infection prevention standards. Requires a Medical Assistant program certificate and BLS. You may float to other clinics as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program with successful certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient rights, confidentiality, dignity and well-being.
• Keeps accurate patient care records per visit and per phone call.
• Collects and processes point-of-care, lab and pathology samples per policy.
• Performs quality and safety checks on waived testing equipment and supplies.
• Performs patient education under the Provider's direction.
• Administers and records treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies under supervision.
• Chaperones and assists in procedures and examinations as needed.
• Handles and prepares reusable instruments for Sterile Processing return.
• Disposes biohazard and pharmaceutical waste per OSHA and policy.
• Maintains infection prevention standards and clean care environment.
• Ensures appropriate stock and supplies in designated areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Performs front desk reception, greets patients and schedules appointments.
• Assists with ICD/CPT coding and inputs billing information.
• Coordinates with home health, hospice, DME vendors and ACO for patient plan of care.
• Monitors Epic In Basket and responds to messages promptly.
• Performs well visits or physicals as directed, and scheduled nursing visits.
• Completes documentation before provider begins visit.
• Performs High Level Disinfection per policy and floats to other clinics as needed.
