Job summary

Geisinger Healthplex State College is seeking a certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to provide direct patient care in the outpatient setting. You will work under provider direction, prepare patients, perform technical tasks, and document in the electronic medical record while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

The role includes administrative duties such as scheduling, filing reports, and handling billing inquiries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred graduate from a specialty training program.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 6 months; CMA or RMA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient information using the EMR rooming tool.
• Set up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assist patient to prepare for visit and ensure safety and privacy.
• Provide direct patient care such as EKGs and wound dressings per provider instruction.
• Prepare and administer medications per policy after competency validation.
• Complete patient tests and specimens per order and document results.
• Perform phlebotomy and assist in selected lab functions as directed.
• Support clinic operations including scheduling, billing inquiries, and referrals.
