Job summary

New England Neurological Associates in Westford, MA, seeks a Nursing Support professional to provide basic patient care under licensed supervision while contributing to efficient patient flow in outpatient settings. You’ll assist with preparing patients, vital signs, and basic documentation, with opportunities to float to Lawrence and Chelmsford as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have MA education from an accredited program; degree verification required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required as a minimum education.

Responsibilities

• Controls and monitors patient flow to maximize efficient use of providers and exam rooms.
• Communicates delays to patients and providers.
• Responds to variations in patient volume, provider ability, and resources by adjusting room use.
• Prepares medical records for patient visits with accuracy and data entry.
• Maintains high level of customer service in all patient interactions.
• Assists with admitting patients and coordinating transfer to inpatient units as needed.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for visits across age groups.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort; assesses fall risk and implements measures.
• Prepares exam rooms per patient visit needs and supports clinical staff.
• Assists with exams, treatments, and procedures as directed.
• Performs and records vital signs and pain levels; reviews medications with patient.
• Performs specimen collection and ensures supplies for procedures.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POC) as ordered (urine dips, HCG, Strep A, HbA1c, glucose).
• May perform phlebotomy and assist with diagnostic testing and admissions as directed.
