Job summary

UNC Health Family Medicine at Smithfield is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified for an outpatient clinic. You will support providers with routine clinical tasks, data collection, and patient care under supervision. This full‑time role includes performing phlebotomy, basic tests, and patient education.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential. Certification in MA and BLS/CPR are preferred; prior MA experience is a plus. Onsite schedule is Day Job with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• MA certification from accepted bodies is preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and collecting vital signs and basic data.
• Reviewing patient medication lists and allergies.
• Assisting providers during exams and procedures.
• Performing phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administering medications under provider direction.
• Sending tests like EKG and eye exams as directed.
• Ensuring exam rooms have supplies and educational materials.
