CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT - ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALTY - PHYSICIAN PRACTICE

Join our team at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute as a Certified Medical Assistant - Orthopedic Specialty. We are seeking dedicated professionals to provide clinical and clerical support in our orthopedic office.

Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant will assist in clinical care under supervision and provide clerical support. Prior orthopedic experience is a plus. Office hours are generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with no weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.
  • Assist patients in preparation for physician visits and examinations.
  • Record vital signs and document in medical charts.
  • Operate and care for specialized equipment.
  • Perform EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test, UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab tests as trained.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with billing procedures.
  • Use computer software for office management.
  • Respond to confidentiality issues appropriately.
  • Adapt care to meet the needs of diverse patient populations, communicating effectively at their level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and standards of behavior.
  • Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing/pulling at least 10 lbs., and standing for at least 6 hours daily.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interact supportively with diverse populations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry
Preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (various recognized credentials)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
